Things you need to be careful about wireless outdoor security cameras

Wireless outdoor security cameras – these words can look like just a long, meaningless sentence, that tells you nothing. However, it may mean something interesting for you, because, we believe, that security cameras are crucial for every home. Let us explain that long meaningless sentence to you. Wireless outdoor security cameras are just one of the many types of security cameras, that are used for surveillance and risk prevention. These particular cameras are not wires, so, they are wireless and work on network you connect it to. Moreover, the security cameras we will be talking about in this article are going to the cameras that are meant to be used in outdoor setting and not in indoor setting. This does not mean that you can use it differently, but most of the time, it will have some features that will be useful when used outdoors, but not so much when used indoor. Here are some things you need to be careful about when buying the wireless outdoor security cameras.

Size: as we are talking about security cameras and especially, about outdoor security cameras size matters a lot. First of all, because it should be hidden, so that intrudes can’t easily see and destroy them. Sometimes this might not be the case at all, but you will want it to be the size that you can handle to install.

  • Type: there are several types of wireless outdoor security cameras. We may even call them shapes. Two of the most common ones are bullet and dome. Bullet type is rectangular shape and is pointing at one place and is easy to determine what areas it can record. Dome shape is different. It is usually round in shape and is attached to the ceiling directly. Most of the time, it has wider angle of coverage compared to the bullet type and is harder to determine its visible areas.
  • Light: this is the important factor in any outdoor security camera. Most of the time crimes happen at night and that is the time you really want to be able to observe everything and be able to see what’s going on. If the security camera does not have any built-in light sensors, usually LED lights, you won’t be able to see anything as soon as it gets dark. Rarely do outdoor security cameras lack such an important feature. Most of them will have the function called night vision, which means that somehow it can record things in the dark, too.
  • Weather resistance: weather is constantly changing outdoors, it is not the same as indoors, where we can regulate and adjust temperature. So, outdoor security cameras need to be weather resistant. They need to be waterproof, in case of rain. Also, it needs to handle hot and cold weathers, especially if you live in the area, where climate is specific. There will be no use of wireless outdoor security cameras is it freezes or overheats. So, this is also an important factor to consider.
